Civic Exchange is hiring a part-time Implementation Manager.
Status: Part time, contract position (~15-20 hours / week)
Location: Chicago - our offices are at 233 N Michigan Ave, but we’re planning everything to be remote-friendly well into 2021 due to COVID-19. You should be located in the Chicago area for when we’re able to meet in-person again and have in-person events (TBD 2021). Otherwise, remote working is expected.
Compensation: $25,000
Start date: February 2021
End date: October 2021
This is a grant-funded contract position.
Help us shape the future of Chicago civic startups! Civic Exchange is a group of civic-minded organizations, companies and individuals who work in media, data, access to information, and government accountability coming together to share office space (when possible!), resources and collaborate to produce better information and policies with and for the public. 2021 will be a pivotal time for our member companies and the civic ecosystem to re-imagine a new path forward based on the learnings from an intense and unpredictable 2020.

The role of the part-time Implementation Manager will be to help us adapt that strategic vision to an actionable roadmap and timeline and project manage the phases of execution.
The following core activities are what the Implementation Manager will helm:
Translate the Civic Exchange 2021 strategy into a project roadmap and project manage the timing, execution and operations of the strategy.
Develop the design and strategy for Civic Exchange events and summits which will be mostly virtual in 2021, hopefully becoming in-person at some point in the year.
Oversee Events and work with the Development Director. You’ll be leading strategic execution of the roadmap as well as events, and oversee events in planning logistics and administration. You’ll work closely with the Development Director to identify possible financial support and co-develop documents needed to secure grants or investment.
Contribute to building a broad network of civic founders and startups who would like to participate in the Civic Exchange community.
Document and share best practices and insights from the events, and post them on the Civic Exchange website and associated social media.
You will also interact with the executive committee of Civic Exchange and report to the board of Civic Exchange and mRelief leadership.
Demonstration of independence and initiative in implementing a client’s strategic vision
Project management experience, including budget tracking and management
Based in Chicago metro area and can commute downtown to our space when we reopen
Experienced and comfortable working remotely
Comfortable working with Slack, Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite, and Excel. Experience with Asana, Basecamp, or other collaborative project management/productivity tools is a plus.
Adept at organizing gatherings and meetings to produce shared understanding and actionable outcomes
Experience in communicating with multiple levels of stakeholders and successfully coordinating their schedules and needs
Cultural competence, experience in collaborating with diverse communities, and a commitment to inclusive, equitable practices
Enjoys problem-solving and challenges; able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available; not afraid to take charge of a situation
Self-starter who is able to take a broad concept, develop a plan and execute with minimal oversight
Are familiar with the Chicago civic startup and/or foundations ecosystem and have existing relationships
This is a contract position
$25,000 for duration of contract
There is an opportunity to build this into a full-time and longer-term position through fundraising.
